If there is one thing we love more than a mountain sunset, it’s a coastal sunrise! As Utah wedding photographers, our usual “office” involves jagged cliffs and evergreen trees, but this week we traded the altitude for some serious vitamin sea. We headed out to Pensacola, Florida, to capture Nicole and Alex’s engagement session, and let’s just say the Gulf Coast really showed off for us.

White Sand and Emerald Vibes

We met up on the iconic shores of Pensacola Beach, and if you’ve never been, the sand there is basically like walking on powdered sugar (which is a nice change from the salt flats back home!).

While we love the drama of a Utah wedding, there is a specific kind of magic that happens when the emerald water hits the shore. The scenery was wide-open, bright, and perfectly complemented the easy-going energy of these two. As Utah wedding videographers, we were in heaven—the light reflects off that white sand in a way that makes everyone look like they’re literally glowing.

Effortless Coastal Style

Nicole and Alex absolutely nailed the “coastal chic” aesthetic. Nicole looked like a total dream in a light, flowy sundress that caught the sea breeze perfectly—seriously, her dress had a mind of its own in the best way possible!

Alex kept things classic and handsome in a crisp white linen shirt and khaki pants. They looked like they belonged on the cover of a travel magazine. Between the two of them and that Florida backdrop, our cameras were working overtime. Seeing them laugh and walk along the shoreline, it was clear that while they might be planning their big day, they’re already experts at the whole “happily ever after” thing.

The Destination Advantage

One of the best parts of being a destination Utah wedding photographer is the ability to bring a fresh set of eyes to a new landscape. We’re used to framing shots against the massive scale of the Rockies, so when we get to Pensacola, FL, we focus on the textures of the dunes and the endless horizon of the Gulf.

It was such a joy to document Nicole and Alex in a place that feels so tranquil. Whether we’re shooting in the heart of Sandy, UT, or on the coast of the Florida panhandle, we love chasing the light that tells your specific story.
